In-Office Procedures

We are your San Diego ENT specialists for in-office procedures

We at Sunset ENT offer many ear, nose, and throat procedures that can be done in our clinic instead of in a hospital operating room.  This offers a range of benefits for comfort and convenience.   Most procedures are performed under local anesthesia, allowing you to eat beforehand and avoid fasting or IVs.  Our familiar clinic environment helps reduce anxiety, and you’ll spend less time away from your daily routine.  Recovery is quicker, as many patients are able to resume regular activities almost immediately.

Here are some of the most common in-office procedures we offer:

Balloon Sinuplasty:

Designed to relieve chronic or recurrent sinusitis when medications haven’t provided enough relief. During the procedure, a small balloon is inserted through the nose and gently inflated to widen blocked sinus passageways, allowing for improved drainage and lasting symptom relief. Unlike traditional sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty requires no cutting or removal of bone or tissue. Most patients experience a quick recovery with minimal discomfort and can return to normal activities shortly after the procedure.

Eustachian Tube Balloon Dilation:

designed to treat chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction—when the tube connecting the middle ear to the back of the nose becomes persistently blocked, causing symptoms like ear fullness, pressure, and hearing difficulties. During ETBD, a tiny balloon is gently inserted into the Eustachian tube through the nose and then inflated to open the passage, restoring normal function and relieving symptoms.

Rhinaer:

designed to provide lasting relief from chronic runny nose, congestion, and post-nasal drip. Using a thin wand, we apply low-temperature radiofrequency energy to calm the overactive posterior nasal nerve—the root cause of many chronic rhinitis symptoms. The treatment takes just minutes. Most patients experience significant improvement in symptoms, reduced reliance on daily nasal sprays, and a quick return to normal activities. RhinAer is an excellent option for those who have not found adequate relief with medications and want a safe, long-term solution without surgery.

Vivaer:

provides lasting relief for nasal obstruction caused by narrowing of the nasal valve—the area responsible for most airflow resistance in the nose. During the treatment, we use a small wand to apply low-temperature radiofrequency energy to gently reshape and strengthen the tissues inside your nose, improving airflow without any cutting or removal of tissue. Clinical studies show that VivAer delivers significant and immediate improvements in nasal breathing, offering an effective alternative to more invasive surgical options.

Latera:

designed to improve nasal breathing by supporting the lateral (side) wall of your nose. During the procedure, a small, absorbable implant is gently placed inside the nasal wall to provide structural support, preventing the collapse that can cause nasal obstruction and difficulty breathing. The implant gradually dissolves over about 18 months, but the support and symptom relief often last much longer. It’s an excellent option for those seeking a long-term solution for nasal valve collapse without traditional surgery.

Clarifix:

uses targeted cryotherapy (cold therapy) to treat chronic rhinitis symptoms such as persistent runny nose, congestion, and post-nasal drip. During the procedure, a small probe is gently placed at the back of the nose to freeze the overactive nerves responsible for these symptoms, effectively interrupting the signals that cause nasal inflammation and excess mucus production. Most patients experience significant, long-lasting relief after a single session, with minimal downtime and a quick return to normal activities. ClariFix is an excellent option for patients who have not found adequate relief with medications or other conservative treatments

Sinuva:

designed for nasal polyps in adults who have had previous sinus surgery. The SINUVA implant gradually releases an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid (mometasone furoate) directly into the sinus cavity over several weeks. This targeted therapy helps reduce polyp size, relieve nasal congestion and obstruction, and may decrease the need for repeat sinus surgery or oral steroids. Most patients experience significant symptom relief with minimal downtime.
